April 20, 2024, News Center Maine Covered the 2nd annual Runway for Hope Event.

The New England Breast Cancer Alliance's Runway for Hope is more than just a fashion show—it's a transformative experience that empowers breast cancer survivors to reclaim their confidence and connect with others who understand their journey.

At the heart of the event is personal expression and empowerment. Each participant chooses their own dress, makeup, hairstyle, and walk-out song, creating a moment on the runway where they feel confident and beautiful. For many survivors like Beth Roddy, walking the runway symbolizes recovery and newfound strength, often inspired by powerful symbols like the Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Beyond individual empowerment, Runway for Hope creates a supportive community—a "Sisterhood" where women share their experiences and support each other through the challenges of their cancer journey. This connection provides participants with lasting relationships and a network of understanding that extends far beyond the event itself.

The impact of Runway for Hope reaches even further through fundraising efforts. The 2024 event raised over $55,000, funding that will support

future shows and contribute directly to breast cancer research. Through the generosity of models, sponsors, and donors, the New England Breast Cancer Alliance continues its mission to improve treatments and outcomes for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
