The New England Breast Cancer Alliance's second annual Runway for Hope brought 47 breast cancer survivors to the runway on April 20, 2024, at Holiday Inn by the Bay.
With a Fire & Ice theme, models in their 20s through 60s showcased creative looks from ice warriors to rising phoenixes, strutting to empowering anthems like "Fight Song."
"Being part of this with all these survivors is super empowering," said Robyn Jackson, who walked in firefighter gear with a helmet signed by every participant.
The event more than doubled its fundraising success from the previous year, raising $61,000 for breast cancer research. Top fundraiser Margaret Morrill Paisley brought in $4,300, crediting research for helping her make informed decisions about preventive surgery after learning she carried the BRCA2 gene.
"I believe that with research, more people will survive this disease and get a shot at their dreams," said board president Marisa Dolan Paraschak.
